The CFBEGA is a "Category 2 Member Group" of the BC Golf Association, which is affiliated with the Royal Canadian Golf Association. We provide the opportunity for our individual members to join the BCGA. This involves a payment to the kiosk of $15 and the association pays a further $10 for each member that joins. Membership is voluntary, but to those that give “I don’t need a handicap” as the reason for not joining, consider the following: BCGA/RCGA membership isn’t just about you. It is all about the game of golf played throughout Canada. The RCGA and BCGA do lots of good work toward protecting and promoting the game, measuring and rating courses, assisting juniors, conducting amateur championships and so on. Your $15 gives you membership and a handicap card and assists all these worthwhile endeavours.
For more infomation, visit the BCGA website. Our affiliation with the BCGA / RCGA gives us validity and respect. We are entitled to enter our club champion in the RCGA's national club champion’s championship. Your personal membership entitles you to play in official events sanctioned by the BCGA, RCGA, USGA and other international associations. BCGA members are also entitled to receive, free of charge, Canada’s national golfing magazine, “Golf Canada” which is published by the RCGA and is full of Canadian golfing news and events. CFBEGA members also receive access to online handicapping system where you enter and track scores for yourself and others in the association. We have a registered handicap division at our club championship in September, where the prizes are awarded based on score rather than by chance. This includes net scores, so theoretically everyone's chances at prizes are equal. All in all, it’s pretty good value for your $15. So if you are serious about the game of golf, or just want to contribute something to the game, please consider paying the $15 and becoming a part of it all. Any questions or problems should be sent to our handicap director, Daryl Dagneault |
